Oct 10th, 2008

Sigh...

So, I spent this morning getting everything ready.  Made sure everything was prepared.  Figured out what to wear, what not to say/do, and made sure my look was spot on.  Had everything ready to go, and went out to the mailbox to get my check which is always there on Friday.

And that's when it happened.

No check.  No check meant no cash flow, and not enough on me to do anything tonight.  I was crushed.  I couldn't believe the ONE THING I had no concerns about getting in the way just stopped me dead in my tracks.

I called my boss... there was apparently a sometimes a small delay processing them out and they should be there tomorrow.  It only happens maybe once every four to six months... and it happened the ONE TIME I needed the money on Friday.

I had nothing else I could do.  I called my date and told her I had to cancel.  She asked why... I told her the truth.  I asked her if/when we could reschedule...  she said she'd have to check her schedule and she'd get back to me.  She seemed apprehensive... either because she was also really looking forward to it, or because she wasn't planning on rescheduling now, I don't know which.  I guess I'll know in a few days right?

Some days, some days, I get a little tired of having to pick myself back up off the mat.

Update:  Yup, check showed up this morning, just like nothing was wrong. ::sigh, lol::

I wish you had called me. I'm an expert in moneyless dates. There are SOOOO many things you can do that don't cost a dime but are really romantic in a sweep-a-girl-off-her-feet kind of way. . . . PICNIC. pack some PBJ sandwiches, grab a blanket and a bottle of 2-buck Chuck and sit in the park under the moonlight . . . . . WALK hand in hand under the moonlight; on the beach is even better. . . . . Pick a FLOWER from a garden (this also has some bad-boy element if you hop a fence and steal it . . . . . Depending on the girl, these old-fashioned types of romantic gestures are better for greasing off the clothing than a string of diamonds.

Drum... Sorry that happened, but I'm impressed with your honesty... If for some reason this girl is so put off by your lack of fund honesty, you probably need to look further... ................. HWP.... You sir are an old fashioned hero... BRAVO! HS!

Ok I'm a gal. I agree 100% with HWP and HS. This girl would have done anything if she really wanted to be with you. Money isn't everything. You could've gone for a walk or window shopping. I'm sure that you two could've found a way to grab a coffee even. When you get paid... don't call her. Use your money elsewhere.

Aww... I'm sorry. I do hope that when you two can go on a date it'll go well...

What a bummer. Fingers crossed for next time though. Whether or not its with her.

Oh, crap! :-o I'm so sorry! But the others are right, money or no, you two could have done something anyways. There's plenty to do in Philly, with no money... or so I heard... may be just a rumor. lol.

hmm...seems to me the other's feel that maybe you should have been a bit more flexible with your plans. you know how to roll with the punches, I wonder why you chose not to change your plans or ask for a different suggestion? I know what you TOLD me, but I wonder if that's the underlying truth. Hey, you hit me with the hard questions, payback is a b*tch. You might want to meditate on that one...
Feeling thankful

b/c I wanted it to be special, and I wanted it to be what we (she and I) had decided to do. I was really impressed with the way we together decided on something, and was really upset that what we had decided on got a flat tire. hopefully, it'll still happen.

okay, you keep telling yourself that...it could have been special anyway....you're a creative guy, you allowed the money to get in the way...but you're not (ahem) ready to deal with yet.
